Downloading Your Reference Distribution

To retrieve the reference Linux distribution for your processor:

  1. Log in to LinuxLink and select the Repository button.

  2. On the Repository page, click the Distributions tab to access any reference distributions that are available for your processor.

  3. Click on the Reference Linux Distribution entry.

  4. Multiple downloaded archive files are provided with each distribution. Typically, there is only one archive containing the installable Linux distribution, while others contain binary RPM and source files. Download the installation image (the file with the -install.tgz extension).

Note

If you are just getting started, and don’t plan on changing anything other than the kernel, simply download the installation image. The source and binary RPM packages are needed only if you want to customize filesystem contents.
