Community
If you have a question or problem, you can search the LinuxLink discussion forums and mailing lists to see if your problem has been addressed, or you can post a question.
- You must be registered, or have a LinuxLink subscription, to view the archives of any LinuxLink mailing list, or to view the forums.
- You must have a LinuxLink subscription to post to the mailing lists or forums.
To subscribe to LinuxLink mailing lists, or to participate in the forums, log into LinuxLink and select the Community button. The LinuxLink Community page appears, with links to the mailing lists and forums.
If you are a LinuxLink subscriber, you can also use the Support form to submit a question directly to a TimeSys engineer.
Mailing Lists
To view or subscribe to a mailing list, click on the Mailing Lists link. A list of all available mailing lists appears.
- To view archived postings to a mailing list, click on the name of the list. Most recent postings are included under the current link.
- To subscribe to a mailing list:
- Click on the Subscribe button for that list.
- Confirm the e-mail that you used to log in, and the list name.
- If you want to receive the mailings as a digest, select the checkbox.
- To confirm the subscription, click Subscribe again. An e-mail request will be sent to the list, and your subscription confirmation will be sent to the originating e-mail address.
Forums
To view or post to a forum, click on the Forums link. A list of all available forums appears.
- To view forum topics, click on the name of the forum. You can then click on each topic to view the postings, which will be listed on one page.
- To create an new forum topic:
- Click on Post new forum topic.
- Enter a descriptive subject, and select the forum you want to post to from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your question or comment in the Body field.
- Ignore the other fields, and click Submit.
- Click on the topic and scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Click reply in the last comment.
- Add your reply, and optionally select Preview comment.
- When you are satisfied with your reply, click Post comment.
Netiquette
Please try to follow the guidelines described in RFC-1855. Pay particular attention to the general e-mail guidelines in section 2.2.1 and especially the mailing list guidelines in section 3.1.1.
Vacation Settings
Please ensure that your vacation mail handling program does not respond to messages from mailing lists. If you are using Outlook, please ensure that you have added the extra rules that ensure that you send an auto response only to those messages sent directly to you. See Proper MS Outlook Settings for Out-of-Office Assistant for more information.
Changing Subscription Options
LinuxLink mailing lists are run by GNU Mailman. To change your subscription options:
- Visit the list options page at https://lists.timesys.com/listinfo/ and click on the name of the list (such as linux-users-list or timestorm-users-list). You can then log in to your list account. The password is originally provided in the welcome e-mail.
- Make any changes you want to your subscription, such as your e-mail address, password, or method of delivery. To disable mail delivery for a period of time, select Disable on the Mail Delivery option.
- If you subscribe to multiple LinuxLink mailing lists, check the Change globally or Set globally checkbox where available to apply the changes to all LinuxLink mailing lists to which you are subscribed.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Submit My Changes button.
- Don’t forget to re-enable mail delivery when you are ready to receive list messages again.
